Yes it was that time again the dreaded compulsories.
The competition where every gymnast does the same moves and it suddenly goes from four pieces to five pieces. All girls have to do a range conditioning set which includes straddle leaver, handstand and very very flexible splits. We went to Birmingham with three girls Kelsey, Georgia, Teresa and one girl from Newcastle Megan, all representing the North.
We started on floor, all went well!
Then it was the range conditioning. This was the part where we crossed all toes as well as fingers, hoping the girls did what they do so many times in the gym, get through it without wobbles or walking on their hands.
The girls did not let us down, we all went clean. Vault was next, that was easy it was only handspring. Then fingers crossed again, could we hit the handstands on bars? Again the girls did us proud. We went to the last piece beam. We thought all four pieces had gone really well, we could be there in the top five, possibly even medal!! There was nothing left to cross.
The girls let their nerves get to them a little and we had a couple of falls, which cost us vital points.
The girls had a good day all round and finished in a credible 6 th. Kelsey & Georgia both finished in the top 20. 17 th & 15 th respectively another great result.
Well Done!
