Welcome to South Durham Gymnastics Club

South Durham Gymnastics Club is based at Spennymoor Leisure Centre – Co. Durham - Uk and is led byNicola Preston, Rachael Wright and a great team of coaches who have progressively led the club through the ranks to become one of the most successful in Great Britain.
The Club is proud to have one of the best training facilities in the country.
Since training in their new facility from April 2006, it has gone from strength to strength andhas over 1000 members in it's unique, ‘pink’gym.

Amy Fossheim (Senior National Squad and British Champion)
Hala Alali (member of the Jordanian National Team) Hayley Robson (GB International, Junior British Champion 2005)

The Club took Silver Medal in The British Teams Championships in April .

In April 2005, Amy Fossheim represented Great Britain in the Junior Europeans in Amsterdam.

In 2009, our South Durham Junior Team won the Bill Slater Championships at Newcastle.

In 2010, Beth Donaldson was invited to attend the English Squad

In 2011, Amy Tinkler won the all-around English Espoir Championships.

The club currently has four gymnasts who attained National Squad status:
Jade Armstrong and Amy Tinkler - Great Britain Start Squad
Claudia Barkes and Alex Learman -  9 to 11years Home Nations National Squad.

The Club has also been selected as an Olympic Training venue for London 2012

South Durham Gymnastics Club has been visited by many prestigious guest – including Tony Blair, Kelly Holmes and Lord Sebastian Coe who was amazed at our well known pink gym and said “it was one of the best facilities he had seen, in the world”

The club has strong links with the PDM and works closely with many schools in the area.


South Durham Gymnastics Club
holds the national governing body’s Gym Mark Status. Gym Mark promotes an environment of safe, effective and child friendly clubs and embraces the ethos of clubs working in partnership with the local community – schools, leisure centre’s and other clubs.
