Our elite squad gymnasts had a great weekend as they travelled down to compete in the Double Downie Cup in Nottingham. Our gymnasts competed across 3 days, taking away lots of valuable experiences and making lots of new friends along the way! Well done to our winners!

Our North Regional Squad gymnasts had a great day as they travelled to the City of Newcastle Gymnastics Academy to have a day of training with other gymnasts and coaches from around the region. As most girls had competitions coming up the following weekend the girls took part in a 'control competition' and South Durham performed beautifully to win the following:

Susan Robertson, a highly valued member of our volunteer coaching team who gives so much to the many disciplines of gymnastics in the North as a participant, coach, judge and tutor has very deservingly won the accolade of Volunteer of the Year! Mia Scott and Leah Greenland took part in their first ever international competition as part of the Great Britain Junior team. The girls flew down to London with their coach Rach who was also the Great Britain coach for the junior team! The girls had an absolutely fantastic weekend as they secured the silver medal behind the GB Seniors, a great experience for both girls who did themselves, the club and their country proud!

The North Voluntary Levels 2017 which were held at City of Newcastle Gymnastics Academy saw a large amount of our elite and intermediate squad gymnasts competing on the vault, bars, beam and floor. The competition was a great success with many girls taking home ribbons, medals and a few overall champion trophies! A fab weekend of competition this weekend as we saw Charlotte and Harriet travel down to the Challenge Cup 2017. Both girls had a good competition, showing off their beautiful routines and placing 25th for Harriet and 22nd for Charlotte out of a field of 72 gymnasts!
Charlotte then competed again on the Sunday at the Bill McLaughlin Team Championships as part of the North Team, having a steady competition and helping the team finish in 7th place.

WOW! What an amazing weekend we have had here as we hosted our annual Pink Ladies Invitational competition!
The competition, which was ran over three days, saw more than 550 gymnasts competing from over 28 different clubs based around the country. Huge thank you to all of the clubs, coaches, gymnasts, SD staff, parents and volunteers for helping to make the weekend so special.
