After another great national squad for Mia and Leah we have some exciting news . Mia had been invited as a guest for this squad which in itself is a huge honour . Mercedes Moore competed at the National Compulsory Level 2 this weekend in Stoke and after battling an ankle injury for numerous weeks Mercedes had a fantastic competition. First National Talent Development Squad

Mercedes and Josie spent the weekend at Lilleshall National Sports Centre attending their first National Talent Development Squad of the year. The two girls trained alongside some of the best clubs in the country, mixing with other gymnasts and working alongside different coaches. The girls completed two 8 hour training days, staying overnight on Lilleshall grounds, getting the chance to make lots of new friends and mix with other clubs. Second North of England Regional Squad

Our North of England Regional Squad girls attended their second squad of the year during the Easter holidays, which took place at our gym. The girls trained for the full day alongside a number of other clubs from around the region working with over 30 gymnasts and coaches. The day consisted of a large group conditioning circuit, followed by basics and then splitting off into various different mixed club groups. English Championships 2017

Over the weekend of the 8th & 9th April 2017, we had Mia and Leah representing the club in the English Championships held at Loughborough. Leah started off the competition on the Saturday in the senior ranks and finished in an overall position of 19th out of a possible 50, superb result for Leah! National Judging Exam

At the beginning of April the club were proud to send two of our staff, Kelly and Susan, down to Lilleshall National Sports Centre to the National Judging Course. The two ladies completed a five day intensive course alongside over 70 other judges covering all areas across the four pieces of women's artistic apparatus: vault, bars, beam and floor. British Gymnastics Master Coach Award

British Gymnastics Master Coach Award

The master coach award recognises outstanding achievement by British coaches and is awarded to the personal coaches of any master gymnast. The club are delighted to announce that Nicola Preston and Rachael Wright received the master coach award for coaching a gymnast who represented Great Britain at the 2015 World Championships and the 2016 Olympic Games. Nic and Rach were presented with their awards this weekend at the 2017 British Championships.[..]

2017 British Championships

This weekend saw the first major competition of the 2017 British Gymnastics calendar with the British Championships held in Liverpool, starting with podium training on Thursday, junior all around competition Friday, senior all around competition Saturday and apparatus finals on Sunday. Compulsory, National and Development Grades 2017

On Sunday the Elite Squad had their first competition of 2017 at their compulsory, national and development grades held at the City of Newcastle Gymnastics Academy.
The first round saw our development 5, development 4, national 2, compulsory 4 and compulsory 3 girls take to the floor where they all had to compete routines on range, vault, bars, beam and floor. North Grades 2017

A number of our gymnasts from the Intermediate Squad took part in North Grades at the weekend, having a very successful competition with every gymnast from the club passing their grade! The gymnasts had to deliver routines on all four pieces from a set of compulsory skills ranging from grade 6 all the way down to grade 1.
