Family Play
Family Play Sessions are very similar to our Baby & Toddler Gym sessions, with the exception of allowing children up to the age of 7 to attend too!
Safety & Inclusion Guidelines for Participants with Additional Needs
As a high-performance gymnastics centre, safety and inclusivity are our top priorities. We follow the Independent Gymnastics Association (IGA) guidelines to ensure every participant's wellbeing. Some medical conditions, including Dwarfism, Brittle Bones, Detached Retina, Rodded Spine, and Down Syndrome, may require additional medical screening.
Specifically, gymnasts, children and members with Down Syndrome must undergo a mandatory screening for Atlanto-Axial Instability (AAI) to assess upper spine stability before participating. Full details on this policy are available here.
If your child has Down Syndrome, please download the AAI Screening Form and have it completed by a medical professional before they join. These steps are in place for their safety.
If you have any questions or need assistance with any of the points above, or if you'd like to discuss how we can support you, feel free to contact us at gym@southdurhamgym.co.uk.
Planning Your Visit
Please note: Family Play sessions now run only during school holidays.
During our Family Play sessions the Pink Gym is transformed into a fun, safe environment with full use of our gymnastics equipment (including trampolines!), plus plenty of soft obstacles, inflatables, and toys to encourage babies and young children to explore and play under your guidance.
Sessions are suitable for children aged 6 months – 7 years and cost £7.30 per child (children under 6 months go free!).
To secure your space, we recommend booking online in advance.
All bookings are non-refundable and non-transferrable.
If you’re bringing more than one child, don’t forget our £2 sibling discount - simply enter the code SIBLING before you complete your payment online.
By booking onto any of our Family Play sessions, you agree to have read and agreed to the session Rules, Terms & Conditions.
